Sadness - NIBRIS

Sadness is an upcoming video game for the Nintendo Wii by the Polish video game developer Nibris. Nibris head Piotr Orlovsky said "that the scenario will have associations with narcolepsy, nyctophobia and paranoid schizophrenia. The scenario will surprise you." According to a Nibris press release, the action of Sadness will be placed "before World War I that is before 1914" in "one of the Slavic countries". According to NIBRIS, this game is only for adult players with strong nerves.

Gameplay

According to an interview, the game is meant to scare the player by atmosphere and not by bloodlust or violence. Various methods of playing include slitting the throat of enemies with glass or throwing a rope over a wall using the similar motion with the freehand controller.

Visual style

Visually the game is to be a black and white stylized gothic horror.

On the April 4, 2006, NIBRIS released two screen-captures "based-on" Sadness. The two pictures were released to Revolution Report who could only confirm that the two pictures were not screen-captures from a Sadness film. The first picture shows what appears to be a woman in modern day attire, standing in front of a television with a remote in her hands (whether this is a Wii contoller is unclear). The second screenshot is a picture of a woman in Victorian attire surrounded by flames holding what appears to be a shovel. From the bottom of the picture, a bony hand is rising up as if to grab hold of hers.
