Metroid Prime 3 is the next game in the Metroid Prime series, taking place after the events of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The game is in development for Nintendo Wii by Retro Studios. Currently no release date has been announced. Metroid Prime 3 has been hinted to be the last in the Prime series and will take advantage of Wii's new features, such as the controller. Nintendo illustrated how Metroid Prime 3 might work with Wii's controller with a modified version of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes at the Tokyo Game Show in 2005.

Retro has acknowledged that Metroid Prime 3 would bring the trilogy to an end. "The plot of Prime 3 is about closure, told against the backdrop of an epic struggle".
Once more, Samus Aran's adventure will take place in first-person mode. "We don't plan on using a third-person camera for the times when Samus is in a suit," the company confirmed.
The mysterious material Phazon will again play an integral role in the adventure, possibly even a larger one than in Metroid Prime 1 and 2, assumably the entity Dark Samus/Metroid Prime will also make another appearence. Aran will this time battle Metroid enemies and other, completely new threats, according to the studio.
The game will be enhanced by way of Nintendo's new controller for the Wii. "We plan on taking advantage of a number of new features in the Revolution, including the controller," the developer said.
